Brief Introduction of International Journal of Radiation Medicine and Nuclear Medicine

The International Journal of Radiation Medicine and Nuclear Medicine, administered by the Ministry of Health P.R.China and published by Chinese Medical Association and Institute of Radiation Medicine, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, is one of the series of International Medical Journals.
      According to the arrangement of the Ministry of Health for 2013 National Radiological Health Education and training plan, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences Institute of Radiation Medicine Held National Occupational Health examination of Radiation Workers Training Class during June 5 to 8, 2013 in Dandong City, Liaoning Province. The representatives from occupational health professional skills and related fields of provinces and cities total 42 people attended the training.           The director of  Institute of Radiation Medicine Fan Feiyue made an important speech, emphasizing the major effects and significance of the training in the monitoring work of radiation workers occupational health examination, and expressed his warm welcome for the visit of the representatives. The training class taught and interpreted the monitoring of radiation workers occupational health and the laws and regulations related to occupational health examination; the criteria system of radioactive diseases; occupational health examination for radiation workers; radiation workers biological does assessment; occupational health examination report and results evaluation of radiation workers; quality control of occupational health examination for radiation workers. The participants listened carefully and actively communicated with and consulted the teaching experts. The training has important guiding significance for the long-term effective implementation of monitoring work of radiation workers occupational health examination.
  •       To continuously improve medical emergency treatment response ability and strengthen the medical emergency treatment for nuclear and radiological accidents, the First Clinical Department of Ministry of Health Medical Emergency Center held medical emergency treatment squad practice and training for nuclear and radiological accidents during Feb 25 to 26, 2013 in Baodi District, Tianjin; the members of medical emergency treatment squad for nuclear and radiological accidents and the emergency rescue office staff total 20people were trained.       The training was hosted by deputy director Li Rui. The director of First Clinical Department of Ministry of Health Medical Emergency Center Fan Feiyue made an important speech. Director Fan Feiyue fully affirmed the importance of carrying out emergency rescue practice, and reaffirmed the tasks and purposes of medical emergency rescue squad, pointing out that as the squad members of national team, everyone is charged with the national tasks, we must live up to come as soon as called, be able to fight as coming and fight to win when our country need us, do not insult our tasks entrusted by our country. The deputy director Jiang Enhai carried out the “emergency rescue plan for nuclear and radiological accidents” training. A member of the squad explained the site external exposure detection equipments. Finally the squad members carried out the practices of site protective clothing wearing and site rescue skill.       This training strengthened the emergency concepts and awareness of the emergency members and improved the overall emergency response ability of the emergency team.            
  •         Ministry of Health Specialized Committee of Radiological Diagnostic Criteria held the Acceptance Debriefing for Radioactive Skin Injury Atlas Compilation on March 6, 2013 in Tianjin. Leaders of Health Supervision Center of Ministry of Health and related experts total 9 people attended the meeting. The meeting was held by the Science and Education Department (Secretariat) of the Institute of Radiation Medicine.         The Meeting was hosted by the division head of Health Supervision Center of Ministry of Health Gu Jingyu, the member of project team reported the history background, scientific basis, actual significance of the project establishment, the expected social benefits and leading international and domestic level of atlas compilation publishing etc. The experts participated agreed that the accomplishment and publishing of atlas compilation is a work with important historic significance, gathering the painstaking efforts and contributions of several generations’ experts on radioactive diseases diagnosis and treatment, and it will definitely have important guiding functions for the future practical work of health care, clinical diagnosis etc.         The deputy chairwoman of Health Supervision Center of Ministry of Health Gao Xiaoqiang made a concluding speech, firstly she thanked the hard work of all the members in project team and the high appraisals of the evaluation experts, and pointed that the project has selected the correct topics according to current social requirements and is significant. Along with the steady development of China’s nuclear power, the completion of atlas compilation is a major contribution for the society. The meeting formally adopted the acceptance of atlas compilation for radioactive skin injury. Project leader Fan Feiyue expressed heartfelt thanks for the full affirmation and high appraisals for this project from the leaders and experts, and also said would enhance scientificity and practicability of the criteria formulating and modifying, and striving to serve the society.         After the meeting, the leaders and experts of Health Supervision Center of Ministry of Health visited the national radiation treatment base and lab of our institute.    
  •         Radiation Health Specialized Committee of China Prevention Medicine Association held the Third Standing Committee Meeting for the Fourth Committee of Radiation Health Specialized Committee of China Prevention Medicine Association during April 22 to April 25, 2013 in Fangchenggang, Guangxi Province. 20 standing committees attended the meeting.         The meeting was hosted by chairman Fan Feiyue. The meeting discussed, deliberated and decided the content form of the new association construction and the association’s 20th anniversary celebrations, as well as the related matters of convening the 7th National Conference on Radiological Health.
  •   Specialized Committee for Radioactive Diagnostic Criteria of National Health and Family Planning held the Specialized Committee for Radioactive Diagnostic Criteria of National Health and Family Planning held 2013 Preliminary Review conference for Criteria during May 7 to May 8,2013 in Tianjin. The Component leaders of National Health and Family Planning Health Supervision Center, expert review and criteria drafter total 17 people attended the conference.           The conference was hosted by chairman Fan Feiyue, the leaders of Health Supervision Center made speeches, making arrangements and instructions for the criteria preliminary review work. This conference made preliminary review for 4 criteria. After being review by experts individually, the four criteria passed the preliminary review. The preliminary review work laid the foundation for the 2013 annual working conference of criteria committee.    
To promote the research team construction of our institute, improve the professional ethics of the researchers and enhance the cooperative awareness of the researchers, the science and education department of the institute convened scientific researcher training meeting in Tianjin Longshun Manor in the afternoon of June 20, 2013. The meeting was hosted by deputy director Fan Saijun, Secretary Zhang Jianhong made the report “the elements for researcher success” by his personal experience in the viewing angle of researchers’ families, proposing 10 successful personal elements including interesting, tutor role model, planning, diligent, intention and cooperation etc. Superintendent Fan Feiyue made the report “self-improvement, high morality, seeking truth and innovation” in terms of analysis for the profound meaning trained, proposing higher demands and hopes of eight principles “clear objectives, inspire spirits, gather strength and pursue development” to the researchers; deputy superintendent Fan Saijun inspired the researchers in our institute to show themselves and breakthrough innovation on the innovation team platform of radioactive medicine by the report “happy team, happy life”. After the report, all the researchers participated conducted in-depth communicating and discussing on the research development and personnel training of our institute, agreed that personal development is closely related with the development of the institute, only by strengthening research professional ethics, improving professional technological level can we really maximum personal value, and achieve the development and improvement of overall scientific research level.         In the evening, to strengthen the communication between the researchers, the science and education department elaborately prepared colorful fraternity for us, by the way of singing and games, not only provide a stage for the researchers to show themselves, but also enhanced their sense of teamwork.
  • The 11th International Conference on Environmental Mutagens, (11th ICEM), was held in Foz do Iguaçu from November 3 to 8, 2013. Over 600 people from over 30 countries like Brazil, USA, Canada, Argentina, Chinese, attended the meeting. In accordance with different professions, the meeting set 50 topics, with 22 Conference Reports, over 200 special reports, and over 300 panel exchanges. A total of 15 people from China attended the meeting, led by China Environmental Mutagen Society Vice-chairman and Third Military Medical University Professor Cao Jia, two of whom delivered Conference Reports. Liu Qiang from our institute delivered a conference report entitled Spermatozoa Damage of Adult Men Exposed to the Processing of Electronic Waste at the meeting. This paper won Young Scientist Award of this conference.  Several foreign counterpart experts at the meeting were very interested in our work, had in-depth exchanges alone after meeting, and wanted our laboratory to join International Society for Environmental Mutagens in cytogenetic evaluation of environmental pollution effects on human health. Through exchanges with foreign counterparts, we learned more about the depth and level of research by foreign counterparts, found our strengths and gaps, and expanded our international influences, laying the foundation for possible future international cooperation.                        
  • Chinese Preventive Medicine Association Professional Committee of Radiation Hygiene, from August 28 to September 1, 2013, held the 4th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 4th Committee of Chinese Preventive Medicine Association Professional Committee of Radiation Hygiene in Altay City. 25 standing members attended the meeting.        The meeting was chaired by Chairman Fan Feiyue. The meeting extensively and seriously discussed, counseled and decided on: Editorial Board establishment and material collection of Glorious History of 20 Years (1994-2014), convening 2014 "China Preventive Medicine Association Professional Committee of Radiation Hygiene 20th Anniversary and Radiological Health Professions 3rd International Academic Conference”, and other matters.   • On September 29, 2013, Professional Committee of Radioactive Disease Diagnostic Criteria Convened 2014 Standards System and Revision Project Plan Review Meeting. According to the spirit of On the Preparation of 2014 Health Standards System and Revision Project Plan Notice from National Health and Family Planning Commission Legal Division as well as Radioactive Disease Diagnosis Standards System, 12th Five-year Plan and research priorities in the field, the meeting discussed and reviewed projects collected, and passed and reported 5 radiation sickness diagnostic criteria projects in 2014.                  
  • Ministry of Health Specialized Committee for Radioactive Diagnostic Criteria held the Ministry of Health Specialized Committee for Radioactive Diagnostic Criteria held the 2013 annual work conference during June 25 to June 28, 2013 in Mohe, Heilongjiang Province. Total 30 persons participate this conference, including leaders of related departments and Bureaus of National Health and Family Planning, criteria committee members and criteria drafter.   The conference was hosted by the chairman of committee Fan Feiyue. Division head Xu Keming of Occupational Health and Radiation Health Management Office of Bureau of Disease Control National Health and Family Planning Commission and division head Gu Jingyu of Criteria Office of National Health Family Planning Health Supervision Center respectively made an important speech, putting forward higher demands for the work of the new criteria committee, hoping to base on summarizing and inheriting the work experience and achievements of the sixth criteria committee, to better improve the health criteria system framework of the profession, clear the development and targets of the professional criteria work, strive for breakthrough in key area in every year and achieve overall improvement in 5 years.   This conference is reviewed by the new criteria committee members. The conference reviewed the five criteria, after listening to the work report of the criteria drafter, the committee participated carefully discuss the related criteria, and also proposed amendments and vote. Four criteria passed the reviewing.   The conference discussed and deliberated the 2014 work tasks and targets of the criteria committee, 2014 criteria development project plan and the focus of criteria committee in 2014.   The conference completed the expected tasks; committee agreed that must follow rigorous scientific attitude and serious academic style in the work of criteria development and reviewing, make persistent efforts, making a sound foundation for building a complete system of radiological diagnostic criteria.
